COMMUNICATION

Some important information you need to know about.

FUNDRAISING

Pigeon River participates in a variety of fundraising programs each year to help provide students with programming, technology items and assemblies that the regular school budget cannot cover.

GET INVOLVED

There are many ways you can be involved at school.

School Supply Lists

Families are asked to provide some basic school supplies at the beginning of the school year. Click the link below for this year's list. Be sure to check the list carefully because not all teachers within the same grade level request the same supplies.

Students and parents are invited to bring supplies to school on "Back-to-School Night" in late August. Throughout the school year, please check your child's supplies and replenish as their supplies run low.

Sheboygan Area School District and Wisconsin Reading Corps have teamed up and are recruiting full-time and part-time literacy tutors for select elementary schools in Sheboygan. Literacy tutors commit to 11 months of AmeriCorps service. Our tutors are parents, grandparents, college students and recent college graduates, mid-career professionals, and retirees who may want to get more involved at our school, explore a new career in education, re-enter the workforce or give back to their community.

Benefits of serving include:

  • Training and coaching in research-based literacy skill support strategies
  • Impacting the lives of students who need extra support to become proficient in literacy
  • Biweekly living allowance
  • Education award
  • Health care and child care benefits (available for full time only)
  • Stronger connection to Sheboygan Area School District Schools

Reading is the foundation of all learning

As a literacy tutor, you can help these students gain the skills they need to thrive. Our tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students age 3 to grade 3. No experience? No problem! Reading Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students build skills and become successful readers.

What does PTO do with fundraising money earned?

PTO believes in a strong partnership with the PBIS program at Pigeon River. A portion of fundraising money is given to PBIS to help with their activities and initiatives.

Additionally, because we understand that not all needs are able to be fulfilled through regular budgets and grants, fund requests from any Pigeon River staff member as needs arise are received and reviewed. These requests are funded on a situational basis. In the past, PTO has purchased or replaced aged technology and we plan to continue this going forward.

PTO also sponsors events for the students including an Author Visit and the Opera for the Young. The Family Fall, Winter, and Spring night events are planned for family fun!
