Dear Sheboygan Area School District families,
I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for your support as we begin this school year that is unlike any other we have experienced. I have been extremely impressed with our students, our staff, and our families’ willingness to adapt and abide by the numerous safety practices we have put into place at our schools. I am proud to say that this school year has started off even better than we expected.
I know it has not been easy, but it is worth it to see our students back in our classrooms this school year. Our school leaders and staff have worked tirelessly to create new class rosters, new routines, new before and after school procedures, new lunch procedures, and so much more to create environments that are as safe and welcoming as possible for our students and staff.
We are also proud to be offering a fully virtual learning option for students with about 25% of Sheboygan Area School District students are currently enrolled. Thank you to our families, teachers, and staff for your support as we all work together to make this virtual option successful.
Thank you for doing your part to keep illness out of our schools. It’s important for parents and caregivers to continue to monitor students for illness and keep children at home if they are experiencing COVID-like symptoms. If one child in your household is ill, please keep all siblings/household members home. Public Health created a decision tree that can be used for children with COVID-19 symptoms.
Each week, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health releases a school risk level status (found here) which will be considered along with other factors to determine the most appropriate educational model. We are also monitoring school absences daily and working with the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on positive cases within our schools.
We will continue to communicate with families regarding health, safety, and any changes to school learning models. Please ensure your contact information is up to date with your school office. You can also customize your communication preferences, including adding a phone number for text messages, in the Skylert tab in Skyward Family Access. Click here for directions.
Due to the ever changing nature of this pandemic, we highly recommend that families have plans in place if a classroom, school, or the full district will need to move to an all virtual model.
Again, I sincerely thank you for following health and safety guidance and for helping us successfully reopen our schools.
I encourage you to visit our Sheboygan Area School District website, our School Nurse Resources page, and the Sheboygan County Public Health School Resources for Parents page for the most up-to-date information.
