Academics

In partnership with families, the Early Learning Center promotes student development in learning the social and academic skills needed to prepare for kindergarten entry. Instruction is developmentally appropriate in an environment that values cultural diversity and nurtures a love of learning.

The Early Learning Center utilizes a 4K curriculum scope and sequence program that is broken down month by month for teachers to guide their teaching. In the special education classrooms, the teachers utilize student's individual education plans to guide their teaching.

4 Year Old Kindergarten (4K)

In the four-year-old Kindergarten program, each child is viewed as a unique person with an individual pattern of growth and development.

4K English Learners

The goal of this EL program is to become proficient in the English language, and the development of skills and concepts that will promote success in a global society.

4K Dual Language

The Dual Language program offers students the opportunity to learn the four-year-old kindergarten curriculum in both English and Spanish.

Early Childhood Special Education

The early childhood special needs program provides services to children with disabilities, ages 3-5 years old.

Interventions

Phonology Special Education Group

The students in the phonology group have been identified with a severe phonological (speech sound) disorder and have a current Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS)

The Early Learning Center has adopted the Wisconsin Pyramid Model, which is a framework that offers different levels of support and strategies to parents and professionals to promote social and emotional development for all children and reduce challenging behavior.

Specialists

Several special education specialists including occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech and language therapists work within many classrooms at the ELC to meet the individual education plan (IEP) goals of students receiving special education.
